Orchid Mantis Catching A Wasp

This mantis species hides in flowers and it even looks like one. It carefully catches a wasp from the air without a sting, how about that!

Finally, now I can see the benefits of carpeting the ceiling of these plastic tanks with silk plants.
To be honest, no matter how much a mantid takes to its new tank, seeming content on the ground, invariably they’ll end up at the top.
Maybe the crickets will be encouraged to venture there too.

@DJAlMighty247 I would never let such a beautiful thing get near those vapid cunts, I hope your mantis lived/lives a good life.

@Desmodus96 Yes they like heat. A 25W lamp is good on top. Roomtemp during the night is important as well. In this tank the fake orchid is a good place to warm up.

@Jimborocknroll90 Well, If wasps don’t feed on other creatures then I guess we’d be over flown with them.

It sucks I can’t have one of these beautiful insects as a pet because of their short lifespan. I’d get too attached only to lose is after only a little more than a year. Still, gorgeous creatures.
